Save-the-date: Putting OECD guidance into practice

Implementing due diligence in the framework of government-backed multi-stakeholder initiatives in The Netherlands and Germany

Joint side event at the OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector

Date: Tuesday, January 30th

Location: OECD, Paris
Program: 11.00-13.00

To achieve more sustainable practices in the garment and textile sector and to create real impact, collaboration between all relevant stakeholders is key. In Germany and The Netherlands, companies, government, NGOs, standard-setting organisations and trade unions have joined forces in national multi-stakeholder-initiatives to improve social, environmental and economic conditions all along garment and textile supply chains.

How are these two initiatives set up and how do they support their members in conducting due diligence? How does their work relate to the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains in the Garment and Footwear Sector? Which direction will the collaboration between the two initiatives take?

Just before the opening of the 2018 OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector, the Secretariats of the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles and the Dutch Agreement on Sustainable Garments and Textiles will organise a joint session to address these and other questions. Both initiatives will present highlights from their work and their latest achievements and discuss critical questions. In addition, members from both initiatives will illustrate how the initiatives work in practice.
